Ginés Pérez de la Parra (born around 1548 – died November 25, 1600), also known as Juan Ginés Pérez, was an important Spanish musical composer during the Renaissance period. He was born in Orihuela, a city in what is now the province of Alicante, Spain. His musical style, along with that of other composers from his time, helped create a special type of music called "valenciana."
Pérez worked for five years at the Cathedral of Orihuela. From 1581 to 1585, he directed a cappella music there. This means he led music sung only by voices, without any instruments. His compositions were used in many cathedrals across Spain. Even though many of his works were not finished, the largest collection of his music today is kept in Zaragoza.
