Giro (Kiro) Manoyan is an Armenian politician. He is one of the leaders of a political group called the ARF Dashnaktsutiun. He also leads their "Armenian Cause" Office, which works to support Armenian interests.

Who is Giro Manoyan?

Giro Manoyan was born in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1962. When he was 14, in 1976, he moved with his family to Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Later, in 1999, he moved to Yerevan, Armenia.

His Education and Early Career

Manoyan studied Political Science at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. In the 1980s, he became the executive director of the Armenian National Committee of Canada. This group works to support Armenian communities and causes in Canada.

From 1989 to 1999, Manoyan was part of the team that created the Horizon Weekly Armenian newspaper in Montreal. For eight of those years, from 1991 to 1999, he was the main editor of the newspaper.

Leadership in Armenia

Since 2000, Giro Manoyan has been the Director of the International Secretariat for the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Bureau in Yerevan. This means he helps manage the international activities of the ARF political party. In January 2015, he was chosen to be a member of the ARF Bureau during their 32nd World Congress in Armenia.

Important Work and Awards

On April 23, 2011, Manoyan was chosen to be part of a special group. This group was the Republic of Armenia's State Commission. Its job was to plan events to remember the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. This was a very important role.

For his hard work on this commission, Manoyan received an award. On December 28, 2018, the Armenian President, Serzh Sargsyan, gave him the Medal of Movses Khorenatsi. This medal is a high honor in Armenia.

Manoyan also received another award on May 7, 2016. The president of the Artsakh Republic, Bako Sahakyan, gave him the "Vachagan Barepasht" medal. This award was for his service to the Artsakh Republic through his work with the ARF Armenian Cause Office.

International Connections

Starting in December 2005, Manoyan has represented the ARF at several meetings of the Socialist International. This is a worldwide organization of political parties that share similar ideas. He attended meetings in places like Baku in 2010 and Istanbul in 2013.
