Girouxville (/dʒɪˈruːvɪl/ ji-ROO-vil, Quebec French: [ʒiʁuˈvɪl]) is a small village in northern Alberta, Canada. It is located about 58 kilometers (36 miles) south of the Town of Peace River. This friendly community is a great place to learn about life in rural Alberta.
Girouxville's Story
Girouxville got its name from a local family. It was named after Father Henri Giroux. He was a Roman Catholic missionary, a person who travels to spread their faith. Father Giroux was chosen for this role by Émile Grouard. In 1951, Girouxville officially became a village.
