About Giuseppe Ottaviani
Giuseppe Ottaviani was born in Italy. He served in the Italian Air Force during World War II. After the war, he worked as a tailor, making clothes for men.
He was married to Alba Michelini and they had three children: Paolo, Marzia, and Matelda. His daughter Marzia is also a top athlete in masters athletics, competing in marathons.

Giuseppe started masters athletics in the late 1980s, when he was already quite old! He was encouraged by brothers Paolo and Giuliano Costantini. He won his first national championship in 1999.
He had coaches like Graziano Bacchiocchi and Mauro Angelini who helped him. When he turned 95 in 2011, he became the first athlete his age to jump over 2 metres in the long jump and 4 metres in the triple jump. He was so dedicated that he drove himself 25 kilometres from his home to his training place!
