Glasgow Craigton was a special area in Glasgow, Scotland. From 1955 to 1983, people living here voted for someone to represent them in the UK Parliament. This type of area is called a 'constituency'.
The person elected from Glasgow Craigton was known as a Member of Parliament (MP). Only one MP was chosen from this area at a time. The voting system used was called 'first-past-the-post'. This means the candidate with the most votes won, even if they didn't get more than half of all the votes.

From 1955 to 1974, the constituency included the Craigton area of Glasgow. It also had parts of two other areas: Fairfield and Pollokshields.
1974 to 1983 Boundaries
After 1974, the constituency still included the Craigton area. However, it only included a part of Pollokshields, and no longer Fairfield.
Who Were the Members of Parliament?
Only two different people were elected as the MP for Glasgow Craigton during its existence.
- Jack Browne was the first MP. He was a member of the Conservative Party. He was elected in 1955.
- Bruce Millan became the MP in 1959. He was a member of the Labour Party. He continued to be the MP for Glasgow Craigton until the constituency was closed in 1983.

Elections in the 1950s
In the 1955 election, Jack Browne from the Conservative Party won by a very small number of votes. He beat Bruce Millan from the Labour Party.
However, in the 1959 election, Bruce Millan won the seat for the Labour Party. He then became the MP for Glasgow Craigton.
Elections in the 1960s
Bruce Millan kept his seat in the 1964 election. He won with a much larger lead this time.
He won again in the 1966 election. In this election, a candidate from the Scottish National Party also stood for the first time.
Elections in the 1970s
Bruce Millan continued to be the MP after the 1970 election.
In February 1974, he won again. The constituency boundaries had changed a bit before this election.
He won for the Labour Party once more in October 1974.
Finally, Bruce Millan won the last election for Glasgow Craigton in 1979. He had a very strong lead in this election.
The Glasgow Craigton constituency was then abolished in 1983. This means it no longer existed as a voting area.
