The Story of Glen Roy

The community of Glen Roy was planned and started by a man named Andrew Roy. He was a very important person in Ohio's mining history. Andrew Roy was the state's first chief mining inspector. This job meant he was in charge of making sure mines were safe for workers.

A post office was opened in Glen Roy on January 2, 1883. This made it easier for people in the community to send and receive mail. The name of the post office was changed to Glenroy on July 12, 1893. However, the post office eventually closed its doors on July 30, 1921. Today, people living in Glen Roy get their mail through the post office branch in nearby Coalton.
