Glendale is a small, quiet place located in Island County, in the state of Washington. It's found on the southeast side of Whidbey Island. It's important not to mix it up with the neighborhood called Glendale in Seattle!

An unincorporated community like Glendale is a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government, like a mayor or city council. Instead, it's usually managed by the larger county government.

What is Glendale's History?

Glendale was started around 1907. Its name was chosen because it described the area well – a "glen" is a narrow valley, and "dale" is also a valley.

A post office was opened in Glendale in 1905. This post office helped people send and receive mail for many years until it closed down in 1943.
