Early Life and Education
Gloria Cabral was born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1982. When she was six years old, her family moved to Asunción, Paraguay. She later studied architecture at the Universidad Nacional de Asunción.
Joining Gabinete de Arquitectura
Before she even finished university, in 2003, Gloria joined Gabinete de Arquitectura. This was a big step for her career. At that time, one of the firm's partners retired. Gloria and other interns formed a new group. This group then became partners in the studio.
Architectural Career
Gloria Cabral has been an important member of Gabinete de Arquitectura since 2004. She helps lead the firm today, working alongside Solano Benítez and his son, Solanito.
Working with Peter Zumthor
In 2014, Gloria Cabral was chosen for a special program. The famous Swiss architect, Peter Zumthor, picked her as his student. This was part of the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative. This program helps young talents learn from experienced professionals.
Swiss experts searched worldwide to find young architects. Gloria was one of only four finalists in the architecture group. She was also the only woman chosen. During 2014 and 2015, she traveled to Switzerland many times. She worked with Zumthor on designing a tea house in South Korea.

Teletón Children's Rehabilitation Center
She was in charge of the project for the Teletón
Children's Rehabilitation Center. In 2010, this project won first prize. It was recognized at the Pan American Biennial . The award was in the category for Rehabilitation and Recycling.Venice Biennale and Moira Gemmill Prize
In 2016, Gloria and her partners won a major award. They received the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale of Architecture. This award was for the Best Participation in the International Exhibition.
In 2018, she was honored with the Moira Gemmill Prize for Emerging Architecture. This is one of the Women in Architecture AwardsArchitects' Journal magazines.
