Gobarralong is a small rural community located in the central eastern part of the Riverina region in Australia. It's a quiet place, surrounded by beautiful landscapes.

This community is about 16 kilometres (10 miles) southeast of a town called Coolac. It is also about 27 kilometres (17 miles) northwest of Adjungbilly.

In 2016, a count of the people living in Gobarralong and the areas nearby showed there were 52 residents. This makes it a very small and close-knit community.

A Look at Its Past

Gobarralong has a bit of history, especially when it comes to its post office.

The Post Office Story

A post office first opened in this area on November 1, 1876. Back then, it was known as the North Gobarralong Post Office.

Later, in 1909, its name was changed to simply Gobarralong. This post office served the community for many years. However, it eventually closed its doors in 1967.
