How Gober Got Its Name
When Gober was first started in the 1840s, it had a different name. It was called "Grittersville." Later, in 1885, the name was changed to Gober. This new name was chosen to honor the Gober family. They were important people who built the community's very first mill.
Changes Over Time
Gober was at its busiest and most active in the 1930s. Since then, the community has become a bit smaller. Today, Gober is found where two roads meet. These roads are called FM 68 and FM 271.
