Fannin County is a county located in the very northeast part of Texas. It shares a border with Oklahoma. In 2020, about 35,662 people lived there. The main town, or county seat, is Bonham.
Fannin County is named after James Fannin. He was a leader during the Texas Revolution. The county seat, Bonham, is named after James Bonham. He tried to get help from Fannin for the Battle of the Alamo, but Fannin couldn't send aid.
The county was officially created in 1837 and started operating in 1838. Fannin County is part of a larger area known as Texoma.

The population of Fannin County has changed a lot over the years. In 1850, there were fewer than 4,000 people. By 1900, the population grew to over 51,000. It then decreased for several decades before starting to grow again in the late 20th century. In 2020, the population was 35,662.
Most people in Fannin County are White. There are also significant numbers of African American, Native American, and Hispanic or Latino residents. People of Hispanic or Latino background can be of any race.
