Goddard is a small, quiet place in Fleming County, Kentucky, United States. It is known as an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and buildings that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government.

Discovering Goddard, Kentucky

Goddard is located in the eastern part of Kentucky. You can find it about 7.7 miles (which is about 12.4 kilometers) east-southeast of a bigger town called Flemingsburg. It sits right on Kentucky Route 32, a road that helps people travel through the area.

A Special Bridge

One of the most interesting things about Goddard is the Goddard Bridge. This bridge is very old and important. It is so special that it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This list includes places across the country that are important to history.

How Goddard Got Its Name

Goddard wasn't always called Goddard! When a post office first opened there in 1881, it was named Sandford. Later, in 1902, the name was changed to Goddard. This new name was chosen to honor a person named Joseph Goddard. The post office served the community for many years, but it eventually closed down in 1958.
