Godfather Don is an American rapper and music producer from New York City. He is known for being a creative artist in New York City's underground hip-hop scene. He started his music career in 1991.

About Godfather Don's Music Journey

Godfather Don started his music career in 1991. His first album was called Hazardous. It was released by Select Records. This album showed that Godfather Don was an MC (rapper) who had a strong, powerful style. It was much like the famous rapper Chuck D.

Later, he worked with the group Ultramagnetic MC's. He helped create their album The Four Horsemen. This led to him working with Kool Keith, a well-known member of that group. In 1995, Don and Keith released their EP (a shorter album) called Cenobites. It was released by Fondle 'Em Records. This record label was started by Bobbito Garcia, a famous DJ in New York. The songs on the Cenobites EP were first made for Garcia's underground hip-hop radio show. Later, Fondle 'Em re-released Cenobites as a full-length album.

Throughout the 1990s, Godfather Don kept working as a producer. He made tracks for artists like Kool Keith, Hostyle, and Ayatollah. In 1999, he released his second album, Diabolique. On this album, his rapping style was still very strong and powerful. The album featured other artists like Kool Keith and Sir Menelik. It was released by Hydra Entertainment. Godfather Don continued to record for Hydra, releasing several singles and instrumental hip-hop albums.

In the 2000s, Don became known for his work with Screwball. This was a hip-hop group from Queensbridge. He produced many songs for their three albums.

In 2007, Don released The Slave Of New York E.P.. This EP had songs that were never released before. It was put out with help from a hip-hop website called Diggers With Gratitude. They found him and worked to release this music. Only 150 copies of this vinyl EP were made. The first 45 copies had sleeves signed by Don. The music on the EP was recorded before and during his time with Hydra. The main song came from a cassette tape Don gave to Bobbito for his radio show. Because people were interested again, Don was asked to release a CD collection of his music. It was called The Nineties Sessions.

On May 21, 2011, Don released another EP of unreleased music. It was titled "The Reformation Circa. 1999". This was a team effort between Mic-el The Don and Godfather Don. Mic-el The Don had also appeared on songs from the "Diabolique" album. This EP was recorded in the late 1990s. It is one of Godfather Don's last full music projects in hip-hop. After this, he started a career in Jazz music with a group called The Open Mind. On March 27, 2020, Don released a new album of unreleased music called "Osmosis". He worked on this album with French beatmaker Parental.
