Gonzalo Colsa Albendea (born on April 2, 1979) is a Spanish former professional footballer. He mostly played as a central midfielder.
He played in La Liga, Spain's top football league, for 14 seasons. During this time, he played 340 matches and scored 29 goals. He played for teams like Racing de Santander, Atlético Madrid, Valladolid, and Mallorca.

Playing for Clubs
Starting at Racing Santander
Gonzalo Colsa grew up in Santander, Spain. He started his football journey in the youth academy of Racing de Santander. He played a few games for the main team in his first four seasons.
He also spent some time playing for CD Logroñés on a loan. A loan means a player temporarily plays for another team. In the 2000–01 season, he scored three goals in 19 games. However, his team, Racing, was moved down to a lower league that year.
Time with Other Teams
After leaving Racing, Colsa played for several other big clubs. These included Atlético Madrid, Real Valladolid, and RCD Mallorca. He gained a lot of experience playing for these teams.
Returning to Racing Santander
In the 2006–07 season, Colsa returned to Racing de Santander. He became a very important player and one of the team's captains. In the 2007–08 season, he played in every single match.
That season, Racing achieved something amazing. They qualified for the UEFA Cup for the first time ever. This is a big European competition for football clubs. Colsa scored two goals that season.
Retirement from Playing
Gonzalo Colsa stopped playing professional football in June 2013. He was 34 years old at the time. Towards the end of his career, he played very few games for CD Mirandés, a team in the second-tier league.
Becoming a Coach
After retiring as a player, Colsa started a new career as a coach. In March 2015, he became an assistant coach. He worked with his former Racing teammate, Pedro Munitis. They coached at Racing de Santander and later at SD Ponferradina.
Playing for Spain
Youth International Success
Colsa was a key part of the Spanish squad that won the 1999 FIFA World Youth Championship. This big tournament was held in Nigeria. He played in four matches during this championship, helping his team win the title.
Under-21 Team Debut
He also played for the under-21 national team. His first game for them was on October 9, 1999. Spain won that match 2–1 against Israel. This game was part of the qualifying matches for the 2000 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
