Gonzalo Eulogio Zárate (born August 6, 1984) is a former professional footballer from Argentina. He played as a forward, which means his main job was to score goals. After a long career playing for many different teams, he retired and later became a youth coach.

Playing Career Highlights
Gonzalo Zárate started his football journey in Argentina. He played in the youth teams for clubs like Lanús and Tiro Federal. Before moving to Europe, he also played for PCC San José in a local league in Argentina.
Moving to Switzerland
In the summer of 2007, Zárate moved to Switzerland. He joined SC Kriens, a team in the Swiss Challenge League. He quickly showed his talent by scoring many goals. This caught the attention of a bigger club, Grasshopper.
On September 15, 2007, Zárate joined Grasshopper on a loan deal. This meant he played for Grasshopper for a while, but his original club still owned his player rights. He played well enough that Grasshopper decided to sign him permanently later on.
Time at Red Bull Salzburg
On May 18, 2010, it was announced that Zárate would join Red Bull Salzburg. This was a big move to a well-known club in Austria. He made an immediate impact, scoring his first goal for the team on July 13, 2010. This important goal came in a Champions League qualifying match against HB Torshavn.
During his time at Red Bull Salzburg, Zárate helped the team achieve great success. They won the Austrian Football Bundesliga league title in the 2011–12 season. They also won the Austrian Cup in the same year, completing a double victory.
