What Happens in "Good Night"
This short episode is all about Homer and Marge Simpson trying to put their three kids, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie Simpson, to bed. But things don't go quite as planned!
Bedtime for Bart
First, Homer goes to say good night to his son, Bart. Homer tries to talk about the mind and makes a joke, but Bart gets a little scared when the lights are turned off. He's left feeling a bit uneasy in the dark.
Lisa's Scary Saying
Next, Marge goes to Lisa's bedroom to tuck her in. After a few sweet words, Marge uses a common saying: "Don't let the bed bugs bite!" This old phrase, which means "sleep tight," actually scares Lisa! She imagines tiny bugs biting her.
Maggie's Dream
Finally, Marge sings the classic lullaby Rock-a-bye Baby to baby Maggie. But in Maggie's thoughts, she imagines herself falling from a tree, just like in the song. This makes Maggie scared too, just like her older brother and sister.
Family Bedtime
Homer and Marge go to their own bedroom, thinking they did a great job putting the kids to sleep. But suddenly, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie rush into their room, shouting and complaining because they are all scared! To make them feel safe, Marge tells them to come into bed with them. The whole family snuggles together and finally falls asleep. Maggie is the last one to say "Good night," which is one of the very few times she has spoken words in all of The Simpsons episodes!
