Goran Bunjevčević (born 17 February 1973 – died 28 June 2018) was a talented footballer from Serbia. He played as a defender, a player who helps protect the team's goal. Goran played for clubs in Serbia, England, and the Netherlands during his career.

Playing Football
Goran Bunjevčević started his football journey in Serbia. He played for several clubs, including FK BASK, Grafičar Belgrade, and Rad Belgrade. His skills as a defender helped him move to bigger teams.
Time at Red Star Belgrade
Before moving abroad, Goran played for Red Star Belgrade, one of Serbia's most famous clubs. He was a key player there from 1997 to 2001. During this time, he helped his team win important championships.
Time at Tottenham Hotspur
In May 2001, Goran joined Tottenham Hotspur, a well-known club in England. He moved for about £5 million. His first game in the Premier League was on 18 August against Aston Villa. The match ended in a 0–0 draw.
Later that year, he got a cheekbone injury, which kept him off the field for a few months. During the 2004-05 season, he scored his only two goals for Tottenham. One was in a big 6–0 win against Oldham Athletic. The other was a late goal that helped his team in a thrilling 4–3 win against Bolton Wanderers. He left Tottenham in May 2006 after playing 58 games.
Playing in the Netherlands
After leaving Tottenham, Goran moved to the Netherlands. He joined a club called ADO Den Haag. He played there for one season before deciding to retire from playing football.
Playing for His Country
Goran also played for his national team, FR Yugoslavia. He was part of the squad for the UEFA Euro 2000 tournament. Although he didn't play in any matches there, he represented his country 16 times between 1998 and 2003.
After Playing: A Career in Management
After retiring as a player, Goran Bunjevčević continued to work in football. In March 2008, he became the sporting director for Red Star Belgrade. A sporting director helps manage the club's football operations, like signing new players.
He later became the chairman of FK Zemun in December 2014. In May 2016, he was chosen to be part of the executive board for the Football Association of Serbia. He also became the sports director for the association. In this role, he helped choose the coach for the national team.
His Family and Legacy
Goran Bunjevčević had a younger brother named Mirko, who was also a professional footballer.
Sadly, Goran became very ill in May 2018. He had emergency surgery. While he was in the hospital, the Serbian national team played in the FIFA World Cup. The team captain, Aleksandar Kolarov, dedicated a goal and their win to Goran. Goran Bunjevčević passed away on 28 June 2018, at the age of 45. He is remembered for his contributions to football as both a player and an administrator.
