Goranboy is a special kind of administrative area in Azerbaijan, similar to a district or region. It is located in the western part of the country.
After some disagreements and events that happened between 1991 and 1992, parts of the southern area of Goranboy are now managed by people from Armenia and the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. The southern half of Goranboy is claimed by this self-declared republic.
