Gordon Edwynn Hunt (born April 26, 1929 – died December 17, 2016) was a talented American director, writer, and actor. He worked on many different projects, including TV shows, movies, theater plays, and especially voice acting.
He is well-known for directing popular animated shows like The Jetsons, Scooby-Doo, The Smurfs, and The New Adventures of Captain Planet. He also directed voices for many video games.

Gordon Hunt's Early Life and Career
Gordon Hunt was born on April 26, 1929, in Pasadena, California. His mother was from a German-Jewish family, and his father was an industrial designer. Gordon also had a younger half-brother named Peter H. Hunt, who became a director too.
Before working in Hollywood, Gordon was a director in New York City. He then moved to Los Angeles and worked as a casting director for ten years at the Mark Taper Forum. A casting director helps choose actors for roles.
Directing Animated Shows and Video Games
Later, Gordon Hunt was hired by Joseph Barbera to direct animated series at Hanna-Barbera. This was a famous studio that made many cartoons. His first job as a voice director was for Partridge Family 2200 A.D. in 1974.
Gordon worked at Hanna-Barbera for twenty years. He became very important in the world of voice acting. He directed voices for many animated shows and video games. As a voice actor himself, he was the voice of the character Wally in the Dilbert animated TV show.
He often worked with other voice directors like Ginny McSwain and Andrea Romano. These directors learned a lot from Gordon Hunt. Andrea Romano even called him her mentor, saying he made actors feel very comfortable.

Gordon Hunt was the father of the famous actress Helen Hunt. Her mother was Jane Elizabeth Novis, a photographer, and they later divorced. In 1995, Gordon married voice actress B.J. Ward. They were married until his death.

Gordon Hunt passed away in Los Angeles, California, on December 17, 2016. He was 87 years old. He died from problems related to Parkinson's disease. Gordon Hunt left behind a great legacy of work in animation, television, and video games.
