Grüner was a special restaurant in Portland, Oregon. It served "Alpine" food, which means food inspired by countries near the Alps mountains, like Austria and Switzerland. Chef Chris Israel opened Grüner in late 2009. It closed its doors on December 31, 2015.
Many people loved Grüner's main burger, called "The Hambürger." Some even said it was the best burger in Portland! After Grüner closed, this famous burger was brought back at another place called The Loyal Legion.
About Kask, the Bar
Grüner also had a bar attached to it called Kask. Kask was very popular and was named one of the top five cocktail bars in Portland by Drink Spirits magazine. Kask is still open today, even though Grüner closed. In 2014, Kask received a great rating of four stars from Difford's Guide.
