Granite City is a ghost town located in Waupaca County, Wisconsin, in the United States. A ghost town is a place where people used to live and work, but now very few or no people live there. This settlement was in a part of Wisconsin called the town of Wyoming. It existed even before Wyoming became a separate town in 1890.

What Was Granite City Like?
Granite City was a small community that grew up around a special place. This place was a "rich granite quarry." A quarry is a large pit where stone, like granite, is dug out of the ground.
Who Owned the Quarry?
The granite quarry was owned by two people, J. H. Leuthold and his partner, Holman. They were important to the town because their business brought people and jobs to the area.
How Did People and Goods Get There?
Getting granite out of the quarry and into other places was important. A special four-mile long railroad spur helped with this. A railroad spur is a short railway line that connects to a main railway. This spur connected Granite City to the Milwaukee, Lake Shore and Western Railroad. This made it easier to move the heavy granite and other supplies.
What Else Was in Granite City?
Besides the quarry, Granite City also had a store. This store would have provided important goods and supplies for the people living and working in the town.
