Granville Charles Gomer Gordon, born on February 4, 1944, is known as the 13th Marquess of Huntly. He is a very important Scottish nobleman, holding the highest rank of Marquess in Scotland. Before he became the Marquess in 1987, people called him the Earl of Aboyne.

From 1987 to 1999, he was a member of the House of Lords. This is part of the United Kingdom's Parliament. He held his seat because of his family's noble title.

Early Life and Education

Granville Charles Gomer Gordon is the son of Douglas Gordon, 12th Marquess of Huntly. His mother was the Honourable Mary Pamela Berry. She was the daughter of Gomer Berry, who was the 1st Viscount Kemsley.

He went to a famous school called Gordonstoun School. This school is in Scotland.

His Role as Marquess

In 1987, Granville Gordon became the Marquess of Huntly. This happened after his father passed away. His father had inherited the title from his own great-uncle, Charles Gordon, 11th Marquess of Huntly.

As a Marquess, he sometimes spoke in the House of Lords. However, a new law in 1999 changed things. This law meant that most noblemen could no longer automatically have a seat in Parliament. So, he lost his seat in the House of Lords.

He is also the official leader, or "Chief," of Clan Gordon. This is a large and historic Scottish clan.
