Great Big Hits is a super popular album by the famous children's music group Sharon, Lois & Bram. It was first released in 1992. This album has 31 of their best-loved songs. Many of these songs were already on other albums. But, the group also re-recorded some songs just for Great Big Hits. They wanted these songs to sound even more like classic Sharon, Lois & Bram!

Album Releases Over Time

The Great Big Hits album first came out in 1992. It was released by Elephant Records in Canada. In the United States, A&M Records put it out.

Later, in 2004, the album was released again by Casablanca Kids Inc. You could also get it as a special 2-disc set from Casablanca Kids in 2004.

  • 1992: Cassette and CD (Elephant Records/A&M Records)
  • 2004/2005/2008: CD (Casablanca Kids Inc.)

The Great Big Tour and Promotions

To celebrate the album, Sharon, Lois & Bram went on their "Great Big Tour." They traveled all over Canada and the United States. Nickelodeon US and Eaton's Canada helped present the tour.

You can see pictures from this tour in the Sharon, Lois & Bram Photo Album. This book was sold at their "Great Big Hits" concerts. The tour was a huge success, selling over 200,000 tickets across North America!

They also released a smaller album called Kidbits to help promote Great Big Hits. Kidbits had a few songs from their older albums. It also had a special "Skinnamarink Introduction." In this intro, the trio welcomed listeners. They talked a bit about their career and what to expect from the Great Big Hits album. Kidbits was only available on cassette.

Great Big Hits showed how popular Sharon, Lois & Bram were becoming. The album became a "gold record" in just two months! This means it sold a lot of copies very quickly. Their earlier album, Sing A to Z (from 1990), took two years to reach "gold" status.

In 1993, a songbook called "Great Big Hits" was published. It included piano music, guitar chords, and lyrics for all the songs on the album. It even had a special "4-Hand Skinnamarink Duet" for the piano.

  • Our Choice Award, Canadian Children's Book Centre (1992)
