History of Greco Pizza
How Greco Pizza Started
The very first Greco Pizza restaurant opened its doors in 1977. It was in Moncton, New Brunswick. Back then, it was called Greco Donair...and Pizza.
Growing the Business
A few years later, in 1981, a company called Grinner's Food Systems Ltd. bought the rights to Greco Pizza. This company is based in Truro, Nova Scotia. They helped Greco Pizza grow into the large chain it is today.
Different Kinds of Greco Locations
Many Greco Pizza places in smaller towns are called "Greco Express." These are often found inside other businesses, like motels or convenience stores. This makes it easy for people to grab a quick meal. Sometimes, a Greco Pizza location might even be connected to a Captain Submarine restaurant, which is another brand owned by Grinner's Food Systems.
Marketing and Advertising
The Famous Phone Number
Since 1995, Greco Pizza has used a special phone number for ordering: 310-30-30. They made a catchy song, called a jingle, to help people remember it.
Changes to the Jingle
When the jingle first came out in 1995, people sang the number as "three one oh, three oh, three oh." But in the early 2000s, they changed the song. The number was then sung as "three ten, thirty thirty." This helped more people remember the easy-to-dial number for their pizza orders.
