History of Greentree Corners

Greentree Corners has an interesting past. It wasn't always called Greentree Corners!

How Greentree Got Its Name

When the community was first started, way back in 1816, it was known as Morristown. A person named Mr. Morris was involved in setting up the area.

Later, the name changed to Greentree. This new name came from a famous local building called the Green Tree Tavern. A "tavern" was like an old-fashioned inn or restaurant where travelers could stop for food, drinks, and a place to rest. Even though the Green Tree Tavern is no longer open today, its name lives on in the community.
