Gregory John Gutfeld, born on September 12, 1964, is a well-known American TV host, commentator, comedian, and author. He is famous for hosting the comedy talk show Gutfeld!. Before this, he hosted a Saturday night version of the show called The Greg Gutfeld Show from 2015 until 2021.

Gutfeld is also one of the five main hosts on the political talk show The Five. Both of his popular shows are broadcast on the Fox News Channel. From 2007 to 2015, Gutfeld also hosted another late-night talk show called Red Eye, which also aired on Fox News.

Early Life and School Days

Greg Gutfeld was born in San Mateo, California. His parents were Jacqueline Bernice and Alfred Jack Gutfeld. He grew up in a Catholic family and went to Junípero Serra High School, which was an all-boys Roman Catholic school.

In 1987, he graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. Gutfeld has shared that his political views changed a lot while he was in college. He realized he had different ideas from both very liberal and very conservative people.

Greg Gutfeld's Career Journey

After college, Greg Gutfeld started his career by interning at The American Spectator magazine. He worked as an assistant to a writer named R. Emmett Tyrrell. Later, he became a staff writer for Prevention magazine. He also worked as an editor for several other magazines.

In 1995, Gutfeld joined Men's Health as a staff writer. He was promoted to editor-in-chief of Men's Health in 1999. After that, he became the editor-in-chief of Stuff magazine. During his time there, the number of people reading the magazine grew a lot.

From Magazines to TV Shows

Greg Gutfeld was one of the first people to write for The Huffington Post website when it started in 2005. He wrote many commentaries there until 2008.

On February 5, 2007, Gutfeld began hosting the late-night talk show Red Eye on the Fox News Channel. This show was an hour long and aired very late at night. From 2007 to 2013, Bill Schulz was Gutfeld's sidekick on the show, and Andy Levy was the ombudsman.

On July 11, 2011, Gutfeld also became a co-host and panelist on the Fox News political talk show The Five. This show airs every weekday afternoon. Gutfeld left Red Eye in February 2015.

Hosting Gutfeld!

On May 31, 2015, Gutfeld started hosting a new weekly late-night talk show on Fox News called The Greg Gutfeld Show. It aired on Saturdays. In February 2021, it was announced that the show would move to weeknights. On March 10, it was shared that the show would be called Gutfeld! and would start on April 5, 2021.

A few months later, in August 2021, Gutfeld! became the most-watched late-night talk show in the United States. It had more viewers than other popular shows like The Late Show and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. By the end of 2021, the total number of viewers for Gutfeld! and The Five combined was over five million.

In June 2023, Fox News announced that Gutfeld! would move to an earlier time slot. This means the show is no longer considered "late night" because it doesn't compete with other late-night shows anymore.

Recognition and Influence

In late 2021, Greg Gutfeld was named the 12th most influential person in American media by the Mediaite website. In 2022, he moved up to 10th place. This was because his shows, The Five and Gutfeld!, had a combined six million viewers. In 2023, his ranking dropped a bit. However, by 2024, Gutfeld climbed back to 12th place on Mediaite’s list. This showed that he is still one of Fox News' most-watched personalities.

Personal Life

Greg Gutfeld lives in New York City with his wife, Elena Moussa. He met Elena, who is a photo editor, in London. They got married in 2004.

On December 10, 2024, it was announced on the Fox show The Five that Gutfeld and his wife Elena had recently welcomed a baby girl into their family.

Gutfeld was raised Roman Catholic and was an altar boy when he was younger. Today, he describes himself as an agnostic atheist. This means he is not sure if God exists.

Greg Gutfeld is a big fan of hard rock and heavy metal music. He has talked on his show about liking many bands, including Power Trip.
