Early Life
Greidys Gil was born in Havana, Cuba. She grew up in a town called San Antonio de Las Vegas with her mother, Kenya Nimo, and her grandmother, Blanca Rosa Piñero. Her father, Esnel Gil, moved to the United States in 1980 during a time when many Cubans left the country. He didn't get to meet Greidys until 14 years later.
Greidys's parents later married other people and had more children. Greidys considers all her half-siblings as full siblings, saying, "Jackeline Gil and Yendry Mendez are my siblings even if we are not from the same father or mother."
From a young age, Greidys loved the arts. She took singing, dance, art, and theater lessons. She also practiced rhythmic gymnastics and musical aerobics. Her teachers thought she was very talented in many areas. When she was 14, she was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome, a kidney condition. This meant she had to stop her studies for a year and couldn't continue her art education.
After recovering, she went back to school at the University of Jose Antonio Echevarria. She earned a degree in industrial engineering. In 2005, Greidys decided to move to the United States to find new opportunities. She once said, "I came to the United States with nothing but a bag full of dreams." She was able to bring her mother from Cuba in 2011 and her brother in 2014.
Her Career
Greidys Gil first became well-known through the Nuestra Belleza Latina Show. This popular beauty pageant reality show aired on the Univision Network. She won the third season of the show. She was also recognized as one of the most beautiful people by People en Español magazine. Many fans in Cuba see her as the international beauty queen their country has wanted for a long time, especially since Cuba hasn't had international beauty pageants for over 50 years.
From 2009 to 2011, Greidys had a special contract with Univision. She represented the network at events both in and outside the United States. She worked as a judge, reporter, and co-host for various shows. She was also a guest co-host on a popular morning radio show in New York City.
In 2010, Greidys started her acting career in Univision's first TV drama series, Eva Luna. She then played other roles, including Tamara in Corazon Valiente, Silvia Villalobos in Rosario, and Karla in Marido en Alquiler.
