Grevillea marriottii is a special type of shrub (a woody plant smaller than a tree) that belongs to the Grevillea family. It naturally grows in a small area of Western Australia called the Wheatbelt region. This plant was first officially described in 1990.

About Grevillea marriottii

Grevillea marriottii is a unique plant found only in Western Australia. It's known for its interesting flowers and its ability to survive tough conditions.

What it Looks Like

This bush usually grows to be about 0.8 to 1.2 meters (around 2.5 to 4 feet) tall. It has many stems and can regrow from a special woody base underground called a lignotuber. This helps it survive things like bushfires. Its branches are not covered in a waxy, bluish layer (they are "non-glaucous").

The leaves of Grevillea marriottii are simple and long, like a line. They are also "tripartite," meaning they are divided into three parts. Each leaf is about 15 to 40 millimeters (0.6 to 1.6 inches) long and 1.5 to 3.5 millimeters (0.06 to 0.14 inches) wide.

Flowers and Fruit

This plant blooms, or flowers, from July to October. Its flowers grow in a cluster called an inflorescence, which is shaped like a spike at the end of a branch (a "terminal raceme"). The flowers can be green, white, or a mix of green and white.

After the flowers, the plant forms fruit. These fruits are ribbed, oval-shaped, and smooth (not hairy). They are usually about 10 to 14 millimeters (0.4 to 0.55 inches) long.
