The Grevillea pityophylla is a special type of shrub that belongs to the Grevillea family. It's a plant that grows naturally only in certain parts of Western Australia. You can find it in the northern Wheatbelt and Mid West regions.
What the Grevillea pityophylla Looks Like
This plant is a dense, bushy shrub with many branches. It usually grows to be about 0.5 to 1 meter (about 1.6 to 3.3 feet) tall. Its branches are not covered in a waxy, bluish-white coating.
Leaves
The Grevillea pityophylla has simple, long, and narrow leaves. Each leaf blade is typically 60 to 100 millimeters (about 2.4 to 3.9 inches) long and 1 to 1.5 millimeters (about 0.04 to 0.06 inches) wide.
Flowers and Fruit
This beautiful shrub blooms between July and October. It produces clusters of red or pink flowers that grow from where the leaves meet the stem. These flowers have striking red styles, which are part of the flower's reproductive system. After the flowers, the plant forms oval-shaped, slightly fuzzy fruits. These fruits are usually 11 to 13.5 millimeters (about 0.43 to 0.53 inches) long.
