Grotbags was a fun children's TV show. It aired for three series between 1991 and 1993. The show was all about a funny witch named Grotbags. She was a spin-off character from earlier shows starring Rod Hull and Emu.
Grotbags was like a classic bad guy from a pantomime play. The amazing actress, singer, and comedian Carol Lee Scott played her. Carol wore bright green makeup, a green wig, and a witch's cape and hat. In every episode, Francis Wright and Richard Coombs also starred. They played many different puppet characters.
About Grotbags' Show
The character Grotbags first appeared in the Rod Hull TV show Emu's World in 1982. She was the main "baddie" in many of Rod Hull's shows. These included Emu's All Live Pink Windmill Show and EMU-TV. She even appeared in the animated series Rod 'n' Emu.
In 1991, the TV company Central Independent Television gave Grotbags her own show. Carol Lee Scott and puppeteer Richard Coombs created this new series. Bob Hescott wrote the scripts, and Colin Clews directed it.
