Gu Jun (simplified Chinese: 顾俊; traditional Chinese: 顧俊; pinyin: Gù Jùn) is a famous former badminton player from China. She was born on January 3, 1975. Gu Jun is best known for her amazing skills in women's doubles badminton.

Gu Jun's Badminton Career

Gu Jun and her partner, Ge Fei, were an incredibly strong team in women's doubles badminton. They were the best in the world from the mid-1990s until they retired after the 2000 Olympics. Together, they won more than thirty major international tournaments. This included two Olympic gold medals and two IBF World Championships. The World Championships were held every two years back then.

Gu Jun and Ge Fei also helped the Chinese team win the Uber Cup. This is a very important trophy for women's world team badminton. They won it back from Indonesia in 1998 and kept it in 2000. Because of her great achievements, Gu Jun was added to the World Badminton Hall of Fame in 2008.

Olympic Gold Medals

Gu Jun competed in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics in women's doubles with Ge Fei. They won the gold medal by beating Gil Young-ah and Jang Hye-ock from South Korea. The final score was 15–5, 15–5.

Gu and Ge successfully defended their women's doubles title at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. They won again with the same score, 15–5, 15–5. This time, they played against their teammates, Huang Nanyan and Yang Wei.
