Gualán is a town and a type of local government area called a municipality in Guatemala. It is found in the eastern part of the country. Gualán is about 165 kilometers (102 miles) from Guatemala City. It is located in the Zacapa Department.
People Living in Gualán
Gualán has grown a lot over the years. In 1850, about 2,000 people lived there. By 2018, the population had grown to 6,430 people.
What Gualán Produces
The town of Gualán is known for its farming and local businesses. Farmers grow important crops like tomatoes, sugar cane, and coffee. People also raise fish in the area.

Yearly Celebrations
Every year, Gualán holds a special celebration. This feast honors Saint Michael the Archangel. It takes place from May 6 to May 8.
