Airport History
Early Jet Flights
Long ago, in the 1970s, a U.S. airline called Hughes Airwest offered flights from Guaymas. They used McDonnell Douglas DC-9-30 jets. You could fly nonstop to Phoenix, Arizona, and from there, continue to places like San Jose, San Francisco, and Seattle.
Later, in the 1980s and 1990s, another airline named Aeroméxico flew daily to Tucson, Arizona. They also used McDonnell Douglas DC-9-30 jets for these flights.
Recent Flights
More recently, US Airways used to fly from Guaymas to Phoenix–Sky Harbor. They used smaller planes like the Bombardier CRJ200, and before that, Beechcraft 1900D and Bombardier Dash 8 aircraft. This service stopped in late 2012.
