Guess How Much I Love You is a very popular children's book. It was written by Sam McBratney and illustrated by Anita Jeram. The book first came out in 1994 in the United Kingdom. It was published by Walker Books. In the United States, it was released in 1995 by Candlewick Press. This sweet story has won many awards. It has sold over 43 million copies around the world. It has also been translated into 57 different languages!

In 2007, teachers in the U.S. voted this book as one of their "Teachers' Top 100 Books for Children." Guess How Much I Love You is available in many different versions. These versions are suitable for children from about 1½ to 8 years old. It has even been made into a cartoon TV show.

The Story of the Hares

The book Guess How Much I Love You tells the tale of two hares. Their names are Big Nutbrown Hare and Little Nutbrown Hare. The original books do not say if they are father and son. However, the animated TV series says they are.

Little Nutbrown Hare asks Big Nutbrown Hare a special question. He asks, "Guess how much I love you?" The story then shows how they try to measure their love. They use bigger and bigger ways to show how much they care for each other.

More Adventures with the Hares

Because the first book was so loved, more stories about the Nutbrown Hares were published. In 2007, two new books came out. These were When I'm Big: A Guess How Much I Love You Storybook and Colors Everywhere: A Guess How Much I Love You Storybook. They were later sold together as a set.

In 2008, another book called Let's Play in the Snow: A Guess How Much I Love You Storybook was released. Then, in 2009, A Surprise for the Nutbrown Hares: A Guess How Much I Love You Storybook was published. A larger book, The Adventures of Little Nutbrown Hare, came out in 2012. It had four stories inside. These stories were "The Hiding Tree," "On Cloudy Mountain," "The Far Field," and "Coming Home." The pictures in this book were drawn by Andy Wanger and Debbie Tarbett. They drew them in the same style as Anita Jeram.

From Book to TV Show

In 2010, Guess How Much I Love You became an animated TV show. It started airing in Canada on TVOKids and in the United States on Disney Junior. SLR Productions Australia and Scrawl Studios made the show. CCI Entertainment helps to share it with audiences.

The TV show has been very popular. In 2013, it was nominated for an AACTA Award. This award was for "Best Children's Television Series." The show was so successful that it was renewed for a second season.
