TVOkids (also written as tvokids) is a special part of TVO, a public TV channel in Canada. It shows fun and educational programs for kids. TVOkids started on April 1, 1994. It broadcasts shows every day from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

TVOkids also has online channels that run all day, every day. One channel shows the same programs as the TV channel. Another online channel is just for its popular show, PAW Patrol. These shows are made for kids aged 2 to 11.

Meet the TVOkids Hosts

Since 1994, many friendly people have hosted TVOkids shows. They help introduce programs and connect with viewers. Some past hosts include Patty Sullivan, Kevin Brauch, and Joseph Motiki.

The current hosts who bring you TVOkids fun are Monica Brighton, Matt Nethersole, Maryanne Oketch, and Laura Commisso.

TVOkids Show Blocks

TVOkids organizes its shows into different blocks. These blocks are like mini-channels with specific types of programs or hosts.

That TVO Kids Show

That TVO Kids Show started on August 26, 2019. It was hosted by Laura and Lucas. This show was broadcast live every day. During each episode, kids could get a special code. They could then use this code to join the live show using a webcam or phone. This allowed them to talk about the day's topics or show off their talents.

That TVO Kids Show ended on April 8, 2022. After it finished, TVO started showing reruns of other popular shows from its collection. In October 2022, a new digital series called KnowBrainers took its place.

School Age Programs

School Age is the name for the TVOkids programming block that airs after school. It used to be called The Crawlspace and The Space. This block shows many episodes of different series back-to-back. There is also a host segment between each episode.

The Crawlspace began on April 4, 1994. It was first hosted by Patty Sullivan and Kevin Brauch. Today, the School Age block airs daily. It is hosted by Matt Nethersole, Laura Commisso, and Monica Brighton.

Preschool Programs

The TVOkids preschool block is for younger children. It used to be known as The Nook and Gisèle's Big Backyard. This block airs on weekdays. It features short segments hosted by Gisèle Corinthios and several puppet friends.

The puppets include Sticks the Squirrel, Jay the Blue Jay, Melvin the Skunk, This, That, and Polkaroo. You might also see Polkaroo's friends from Polka Dot Door, like Dumpty, Humpty, and Marigold. These characters appear as small dolls, not large costumes, which is their first time back since Polka Dot Shorts ended in 2001. TVO stopped making new Gisèle's Big Backyard segments in May 2016.

TVOkids Logos Over Time

The TVOkids logo has changed a few times since it started. These changes help keep the brand looking fresh and modern.
