Joseph Frederick Motiki (born July 31, 1972) is a Canadian actor and TV host. He is well-known for hosting the children's show The TVOKids Crawlspace. He also hosted the game show Ice Cold Cash on the Food Network.

Early Life and Education

Joseph Motiki was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. His parents moved to Canada from South Africa. He grew up in East York and went to East York Collegiate Institute for high school. Joseph was a great student and loved sports. He was even the president of his student government! After high school, he studied Radio and Television Arts at Ryerson University.

Career Highlights

Starting in Television

While still in school, Joseph Motiki got his first big TV job. He was chosen from 350 people to host What. This was a late-night call-in show for young people on TVOntario. The show talked about current events and popular culture. It was even nominated for a Gemini Award in 1995 for Best Youth Program.

Hosting TVOKids Crawlspace

In 1995, Joseph became a co-host of The TVOKids Crawlspace. This was TVOntario's popular after-school block of children's programs. He worked alongside Patty Sullivan. Joseph and Patty would appear live between shows like Art Attack and The Magic School Bus. They would read letters from viewers and create fun characters. Joseph spent four years on TVOKids. He helped the show become very popular. He left The Crawlspace in 1999.

Voice Acting Adventures

After TVOKids, Joseph started doing voice acting for animated TV shows. He voiced Professor Rocket in Crashbox on HBO. He also became the voice of Rocky Canyon for the TV series Rescue Heroes. He even voiced Rocky Canyon for the action figures and the 2003 movie Rescue Heroes: The Movie. Another famous voice role was Metabee in the TV series Medabots.

Joseph has continued to voice many characters in cartoons. He was the voice of The Whoosh in PAW Patrol: Ready Race Rescue (2019). He also voiced Dad in PAW Patrol: Jet to the Rescue (2020). In 2022, he was Adult Bird in Blue's Big City Adventure. He also voiced Spud Muffin in Transformers: BotBots (2022). More recently, he has voiced characters in Rosie's Rules (2022-2023) and Work It Out Wombats! (2023).

In 2002, Joseph hosted the quiz show Reach for the Top. This show was a high school competition. That same year, he hosted POV Sports on CBC. This show featured athletes and different sports. Joseph traveled across North America for POV Sports. He covered events like the Gravity Games and the X Games. He even interviewed the famous runner Usain Bolt!

Joseph also hosted Game Gurus on YTV from 2007 to 2008. In 2012, he hosted Ice Cold Cash on the Food Network. On this show, he pretended to be an ice cream seller. He would surprise customers with food questions and give them cash prizes for correct answers.
