Movie Story: Ghostly Adventures
The movie starts with two kids, Ian and Claire. They move to a new town because their grandfather has just passed away. Ian feels like his grandfather's spirit is trying to tell them something. He finds old newspaper clippings about a man named Zachariah Kull. People thought Zachariah had burned down his house with his wife inside.
Meeting the Soul Patrol
Later, Ian and Claire catch a ghost named Jumper. He was a skydiver in life. Jumper's partner, Coffin Ed, who was a soldier, helps him get free. Ian and Claire follow them and other ghost-like wisps into a forest. They find an old, empty building. Inside, they see ghosts going into a mirror. This mirror leads to the afterlife.
Ed and Jumper work for a boss named Mariah, who was a bride. She isn't happy about the kids following them. Ian and Claire learn that these ghosts look for souls that don't want to cross over. Jumper calls them the "Soul Patrol." They got these jobs while waiting for their own turn to cross over.
Saving Grandpa and Other Souls
The kids make a deal with the Soul Patrol. They want their grandfather to finish anything he needs to before moving on. They soon find out that Zachariah has kidnapped their grandfather! Zachariah wants to use his power to get stronger.
Ian and Claire team up with the Soul Patrol. Their goal is to stop Zachariah and free all the souls he has captured. They find Zachariah at an old mine. Mariah tries to fight his fireballs, but Zachariah has new, stronger powers. Jumper gets captured, which makes Zachariah even more powerful.
The Truth About Zachariah
In the end, they learn a big secret. Zachariah was not evil. He was an inventor who experimented with natural gas. One of his inventions accidentally caused a fire that killed his wife. When Zachariah died, he told his wife to wait for him. He couldn't move on because he wanted revenge for being wrongly accused.
The town has a festival that honors the "villain" they think Zachariah is. Zachariah appears from a burning statue. But Claire and Ian tell everyone the real story. They remind Zachariah that his wife is still waiting for him to cross over. Zachariah then releases all the trapped spirits. Finally, he is able to move on.
Grandpa's Farewell
The children and their father go home. Their grandfather's spirit is waiting for them. The Soul Patrol kept their promise to let him finish his business. He tells his son how proud he is, something he never said when he was alive. When asked if he has to leave right away, Grandpa says "eternity can wait awhile." He spends time with his son before moving on. The family decides to stay in the town. The town starts telling the true story about Zachariah.
The Soul Patrol's New Job
During the day, Ian and Claire visit the Soul Patrol. They only find Jumper and Ed. Mariah is talking to their bosses in the next world. Mariah comes back and explains something important. The big event they caused to stop Zachariah showed everyone that there is an afterlife! Mariah is upset because she was almost done with her job. But now, her job and the jobs of Jumper and Coffin Ed have been made longer as a punishment.
Ed visits Ian and Claire while they are carving pumpkins. They are using one of their grandfather's inventions. Ed avoids getting hit by falling pieces because he is a ghost. He says, "There are some advantages to being dead."
