The Story of the Rescue Heroes
The movie starts with the brave Rescue Heroes saving people from an earthquake in North Dakota. Next, they fly to Ecuador. There, a volcano called Mount Sangay has erupted. Two reporters are stuck in a crashed helicopter near the volcano. The Rescue Heroes must save them!
As they climb the volcano, Rocky Canyon is a bit too confident. He doesn't use all his safety gear. This causes him and Billy Blazes to almost fall! They do save the reporters. But Billy tells Rocky off for being careless. He reminds Rocky to trust his team.
Global Storms and New Dangers
Soon, strange thunderstorms start happening everywhere. These storms cause many natural disasters around the world. Billy sends the Rescue Heroes to different places to help. He reluctantly sends Rocky to Switzerland. Rocky is there to help after a big avalanche.
While rescuing a snowboarder, Rocky ignores orders. He takes a risky path down the mountain. This puts him right in the way of another avalanche! Rocky and the snowboarder escape safely. But Billy suspends Rocky from field duty. This means Rocky can't go on missions for a while.
Billy's Illness and a Global Mystery
Later, Billy tries to fix a damaged dam in Thailand. Suddenly, he blacks out and the dam collapses. The river floods the area. Billy becomes very sick. Before losing consciousness, he mutters, "Out of many, one."
The Rescue Heroes figure out that the storms are coming from Mount Sangay. The lightning is caused by a special magnetic element in the volcano's ash. Earth's magnetic field is pulling these storms north. When they all meet, they will explode. This could cause a huge global disaster!
Rocky realizes that Billy's message was about lightning bolts. He thinks they can stop the storms. They can use a lightning rod to ground the electricity. Meanwhile, Rocky discovers why Billy is sick. He touched a poisonous plant during the Mount Sangay mission.
A Race Against Time
Rocky blames himself for Billy's injury. He volunteers to go back to the volcano with Wendy Waters. They need to get the plant's root to cure Billy.
Rocky and Wendy climb the volcano again. This time, Rocky understands he needs his teammates. He lets Wendy get the root from the mountainside. Back at base, Jake Justice contacts the United Nations. Countries around the world work together. They build a giant, mile-high lightning rod in Greenland.
During construction, Jack Hammer gets hurt. A lightning strike fuses the Rescue Heroes' jet cable to the top of the tower. Rocky and a now-cured Billy rush to help. They rescue Jack and disconnect the cable just in time. A huge burst of lightning strikes the tower. It discharges all the storms' electricity. The storms disappear, and the planet is saved!
Lessons Learned and New Beginnings
At the Mountain Action Command Center, Rocky apologizes to Billy. He says sorry for his bad behavior. Billy also apologizes for not telling Rocky about his illness sooner. Billy then promotes Rocky to Mission Select Team Leader. The Rescue Heroes celebrate their success together.
