Total Drama Presents: The Ridonculous Race is an exciting animated reality television show from Canada. It's a spin-off from the popular Total Drama series, which first started in 2007. This show makes fun of common things you see in reality TV competitions.

The series was created by Fresh TV Inc. and is shared around the world by Cake Entertainment. It first aired in the United States on Cartoon Network on September 7, 2015. In Canada, it started on the Canadian Cartoon Network on January 4, 2016. Australian fans could watch it on ABC3 starting December 12, 2015. Just like the original Total Drama, this series has 26 episodes in its one season.

How the Race Works

In The Ridonculous Race, teams of two people travel to different countries and places in each episode. They have to complete challenges in what are called "legs" of the race.

Reaching the Chill Zone

Teams race to the "Chill Zone," which is the finish line for each leg. It looks like a gold "Carpet of Completion." The first team to get there usually gets a head start in the next leg. The last team to arrive might get eliminated from the game.

Don-Box Clues and Challenges

In each of the 26 episodes, teams must press a button on a "Don-box" to get clues. These clues tell them which challenge they need to do next.

Each challenge has a task that teams must finish to move forward. There are four main types of challenges:

  • All-In: Both team members work together to complete a task.
  • Botch-or-Watch: One team member does the task while the other watches. Usually, it's the person who didn't do the last challenge's main part.
  • Either-or: Teams choose between two different tasks. Both team members complete the chosen task together, just like in an "All-In" challenge.
  • Superteam: Multiple teams work together to finish a task.

Penalties for Mistakes

If a team member doesn't follow the rules of a challenge, their team will get a time penalty when they reach the "Chill Zone." This means they have to wait before they can step on the carpet, which can make them fall behind.

Meet the Racers

Total Drama Presents: The Ridonculous Race features 36 new contestants, forming 18 teams. Plus, four characters from the original Total Drama series also join the race. All contestants compete in teams of two throughout the season.

Understanding the Table

Each column in the table shows how teams placed in each part of the race (called a "leg").

  • A red team placement means that team was eliminated.
  • A brown team placement means the team left the race on their own.
  • An underlined blue team's placement means they came in last, but it was a non-elimination leg, so they were safe.
  • A brown ⊃ or cyan ⋑ means a team found a "Boomerang." This let them choose another team to repeat a task. A or shows the team that had to repeat the task.
  • Matching colored symbols (pink + and teal ^) show teams that worked together in a "Superteam" challenge.
  1. Noah & Owen were 11th, but got a 20-minute penalty because Owen ate their cheese wheel instead of rolling it. Five teams passed them, dropping them to 16th.
  2. Dwayne & Junior were 1st, but got a 20-minute penalty. Dwayne read a clue before reuniting with Junior. Three teams passed them, dropping them to 4th.
  3. Tom & Jen were 3rd, but got a 20-minute penalty for taking a yacht instead of a train. Two teams passed them, dropping them to 5th.
  4. Kelly & Taylor were 7th, but got a one-hour penalty. Taylor didn't follow Kelly back through a geyser field as instructed. Six teams passed them, dropping them to 13th.
  5. Laurie & Miles were 1st, but got a 30-minute penalty. Miles made both parts of a costume, but they were supposed to make one each. All other teams passed them, leading to their elimination.
  6. Crimson & Ennui were 6th, but got a 10-minute penalty for switching places during a task. Six teams passed them, dropping them to 12th.
  7. Leg 14 was a double-elimination leg. The last two teams were eliminated.
  8. Jacques & Josee were 1st, but got a 10-minute penalty for arriving on foot instead of riding burros. MacArthur & Sanders passed them, dropping them to 2nd.
  9. Jacques & Josee were 1st, but got a 30-minute penalty. They didn't get their own ball from the bottom of a deep hole; they stole Emma & Kitty's. This didn't change their final spot.
  10. Jacques & Josee were 1st, but got a one-hour penalty. They disconnected train carriages. Three teams passed them, dropping them to 4th.
  11. In Leg 24, Carrie & Devin were 3rd and safe. But Emma & Kitty accidentally pushed Devin off a cliff, injuring him. Carrie & Devin had to leave the race. They chose Brody & Geoff to return in their place.
  12. Jacques & Josee were the last to arrive at the mid-point Chill Zone in Central Park and were eliminated during the final leg.
  13. The final episode has two different endings, depending on where you watch it. Brody & Geoff win in many countries like the USA (Cartoon Network), Australia, and Brazil. MacArthur & Sanders win in Canada, the USA (Netflix), and other places.

More About the Show

Video Game Fun

A video game called "Donculous Dash" was released on January 4, 2016. It lets players use any of the 36 main characters to race in short "endless running" style games. This game is only available in Canada. You can download it from the Canadian app store, and there's a demo version on the Cartoon Network website.

Where to Watch

The Ridonculous Race isn't often released on DVDs or for digital purchase. You can usually find it on Netflix, but it's sometimes listed as "Season 7" of the original Total Drama series by mistake.
