Atomic Puppet is a fun French-Canadian animated TV show. It was created by Jerry Leibowitz and Mark Drop. Companies like Mercury Filmworks, Technicolor Animation Productions, and Gaumont Animation helped make it. The show aired on Teletoon in Canada and Disney XD in the USA.

The story is about Joey Felt, a 7th grader, and his superhero friend, AP. AP used to be a famous superhero, but he got turned into a powerless sock puppet. The only way he can get his powers back is when Joey puts him on his hand! Together, they become Mega City's newest superhero team: Atomic Puppet and Nuclear Boy.

What is Atomic Puppet About?

Mega City's greatest hero, Captain Atomic, faces a big problem. His angry sidekick, Mookie (also known as Sergeant Subatomic), turns him into a living sock puppet. This happens when Captain Atomic shakes hands with 12-year-old Joey Felt.

Suddenly, Captain Atomic has no powers. He quickly learns that the only way to get his strength back is to team up with Joey. This is a dream come true for Joey, who is a huge fan! But Captain Atomic isn't so happy about it.

Together, they form a funny and sometimes awkward partnership. They become the city's new superhero duo: Atomic Puppet and Nuclear Boy. They work together to fight crime and save their city.

Who are the Characters?

Main Heroes

  • Joseph "Joey" Felt / Nuclear Boy (voiced by Eric Bauza) – Joey is the main character. He's a 12-year-old middle school student who loves comic books. By chance, he gains the ability to combine with his superhero idol, Captain Atomic. When they join, they become the new hero, Atomic Puppet and Nuclear Boy.
  • Captain Atomic / Atomic Puppet / AP (voiced by Eric Bauza) – Captain Atomic was a very famous superhero. He was known for his super strength and charm. But his jealous sidekick, Mookie, turned him into a powerless living sock puppet. Now he's called AP. He has a big ego and a short temper, so he struggles to get used to being a puppet. He can only use his powers when Joey puts him on his hand.

Friends and Family

  • Pauline Bell (voiced by Lisa Norton) – Pauline is Joey's best friend. She's a smart middle school girl. She's one of the few people who knows Joey's secret identity. Pauline sometimes helps Joey hide his superhero activities. She even fights alongside Atomic Puppet when needed. She works at a comic book shop owned by her uncle.
  • Phil Felt (voiced by Carlos Díaz) – Phil is Joey's strong and tough dad. He's often impatient and has strong opinions. He tries to balance out his wife's overprotective nature with the kids.
  • Vivian Felt (voiced by Kristina Nicoll) – Vivian is Joey's sweet and very caring mom. She worries a lot about her children. She is always concerned about what kind of trouble they might get into.
  • Abigail Felt (voiced by Katie Griffin) – Abigail is Joey's energetic 8-year-old sister. People often call her "Abs" or "Abbie."
  • Bubbles – Bubbles is the family cat. He's a bit slow and overweight. AP thinks Bubbles is a secret villain trying to get rid of him. But Phil loves Bubbles very much and calls him "the most adorable kitty-kat in the world."
  • Rex Bordeaux (voiced by David Huband) – Rex is a very proud news anchor in Mega City. He became famous by reporting on Captain Atomic's amazing feats. Now that Captain Atomic is "gone," Rex worries about his own fame.

Villains

  • Sergeant Subatomic (Mookie) (voiced by Peter Oldring) – Mookie is the main bad guy. He was Captain Atomic's sidekick but became bitter and jealous. He turned Captain Atomic into a puppet, hoping to take his place as Mega City's hero. Mookie has many gadgets but lives in his mom's basement. He often tries to make people accept him as a hero, but he's not very good at it.
  • Professor Tite-Gripp (voiced by Rick Miller) – This villain is smart and mean. He has huge mechanical hands that give him super strength. He used to be Captain Atomic's biggest enemy and is now Atomic Puppet's most dangerous foe.
  • Naughty Kitty (voiced by Heather Bambrick) – Naughty Kitty is a female thief who wears a black cat costume. She loves to steal cats. She is a funny take on the character Catwoman.
  • Zorp (voiced by Rob Tinkler) – Zorp is a green-skinned alien who wants to capture and eat the people of Mega City. He often has a smaller alien friend named Flert with him.
  • Mudman (voiced by Rob Tinkler) – Mudman is a creature made of mud. He can change his shape and take over people's bodies by covering them. He has a cousin named Dirtbag, who can breathe blasts of soil.
  • Ms. Erlenmeyer / Queen Mindbender (voiced by Kristina Nicoll) – Ms. Erlenmeyer is Joey's grumpy science teacher. AP accidentally makes her go a little crazy when he tries to get Joey out of detention. Later, she marries a mysterious alien and becomes Queen Mindbender, a green-skinned telepath.

Other Heroes

  • Justice Alliance – This is a team of superheroes who protect the whole galaxy. Captain Atomic was a member before he became a puppet, and he has rejoined as Atomic Puppet.
    • Commander Cavalier (voiced by Rob Tinkler) – He's a hero like Superman with heat vision. He loves looking at himself in mirrors, which is a bit like the character Booster Gold.
    • Robo-Ron (voiced by Martin Roach) – This hero is a Cyborg (comics) and only speaks in beatbox sounds or printed messages. He has many gadgets and is very smart, but he's seen as the least powerful team member. He also carries weapons like Robocop.
    • Crimson Beacon – A quiet superhero with flaming hair. He has powers similar to Green Lantern and Firestorm (comics).
  • Princess War Tickle (voiced by Kristina Nicoll) – A superheroine similar to Wonder Woman. She lives in a magic castle in the sky. She and Captain Atomic have a friendly rivalry because they are both very powerful and famous.
