Guinda is a small community in Yolo County, California. It's known as a census-designated place, which means it's an area identified by the U.S. Census Bureau for statistical purposes, but it's not a legally organized city or town. Guinda is located in the Capay Valley, about 13 miles (21 km) northwest of Esparto. The town sits at an elevation of 361 feet (110 meters) above sea level.
The name "Guinda" comes from the Spanish language word for "sour cherry". Officials from the Southern Pacific Railroad named the town after a cherry tree they found there. A post office first opened in Guinda in 1889.
