Gulf of Guacanayabo facts for kids
The Gulf of Guacanayabo (which means Golfo de Guacanayabo in Spanish) is a large bay. It is located along the southern coast of Cuba. This important bay is bordered by the Granma and Las Tunas provinces.
Exploring the Gulf
The biggest port city on the gulf is Manzanillo. This city is a key place for ships and trade. To the northwest of the gulf, you'll find the beautiful Jardines de la Reina (Gardens of the Queen) islands. These islands are a famous archipelago.
Cuba's longest river, the Cauto River, flows into the Gulf of Guacanayabo. Rivers bring fresh water and nutrients to the bay. This helps many different plants and animals to live there.
