What is Gummibär?
The name "Gummibär" comes from a German word meaning "gummy bear". It's like the chewy bear-shaped candies from Haribo. Gummibär is a green bear with big blue eyes. He wears orange shorts and white sneakers. He also has a small piece missing from his left ear, like he's been nibbled! His mouth area looks a bit like carpet, and he has two small teeth far apart on his lower jaw. One of his eyes is bigger than the other.
Why is Gummibär Popular?
Gummibär is very popular, much like another European music star, Crazy Frog. People love his songs because they have simple, repeated words and catchy tunes. His music has been released in many different languages all over the world.
A company called Gummybear International helps create and promote Gummibär. They make his cartoons, music, and all his products. You can find Gummibär CDs, DVDs, downloads, ringtones, and even video games. The company is based in New Jersey, United States.
In 2012, Gummybear International made deals with a toy company in Greece called Jumbo. They also worked with a music company in Brazil called Som Livre. These deals helped Gummibär reach even more fans with toys and music.
In 2017, Gummybear International introduced a new character named Paperotti. Paperotti is a yellow duck with a blue feather. He has his own music videos and cartoons. Paperotti has even appeared in some Gummibär videos.
Gummibär Music Videos
The original "I'm a Gummy Bear" video was only 30 seconds long. It was made using computer animation. Pete Dodd directed and animated the video. It was produced in Copenhagen for a music company in Berlin. The very first version of the video was in Hungarian, called "Itt Van A Gumimaci". It was first shared online in 2007.
Gummibär on DVD
A DVD called Gummibär: I Am Gummy Bear - The Gummibär Video Collection was released in the United States in 2009. This DVD has the "I'm a Gummy Bear" video in nine different languages. It also includes some of Gummibär's other music videos. The videos often show off Gummibär's merchandise at the beginning.

Gummibär Film
Gummibär starred in his first full-length movie! It's called Gummibär: The Yummy Gummy Search for Santa. The movie came out in the United Kingdom in October 2012 and in the United States in November 2012. It was released by Lionsgate Home Entertainment.
In the film, Gummibär goes on an adventure with his friends. His friends are Harry, a chameleon; Vampiro, a bat; and Kala, a cat. They need to find Santa Claus, who has gone missing on Christmas Eve! The movie also aired on TV in December 2012 on The CW's Vortexx cartoon block.
Gummibär Web Series
In 2016, an animated web series called Gummibär and Friends started. It was released on the official Gummibär YouTube channel. The first season had 39 episodes. International versions of the show were later released on a channel called "Gummy Bear Show International" starting in 2020.
