Gunilla Lundgren is a Swedish writer who creates amazing books for children. She is also a strong supporter of peace and protecting our environment. She helps lead the International Swedish Writers' Union, which connects writers from different countries.

Gunilla Lundgren: A Writer for Change
Gunilla Lundgren has written more than 30 books for kids! Many of her books have won awards and have been translated into many different languages. She also makes special books that are bilingual, meaning they are in two languages. These books are great for children whose families have moved to a new country.
One of her special books is called In this wide world. It's a collection of poems, songs, and games from 64 different languages. Some of these languages include Fula, Haya, Kimbundu, Creole, Somali, Swahili, Tigrinya, Wolof and Xhosa.
Her Books and Stories
In 1972, Gunilla wrote her very first book. It was called Maritza a Gypsy Girl (Maritza en zigenarflicka). She wrote this book together with three teenage Roma girls.
Working with Roma Girls
Many of Gunilla's books were created by working with Roma people. One example is the cartoon book Sofia Z 4515. This book tells the story of Sofia Taikon. Sofia survived a very difficult time in history called the Holocaust.
Helping Kids Around the World
Gunilla is currently working on an exciting project. It connects children from different parts of the world. She is bringing together kids from Rinkeby, a neighborhood in Stockholm, Sweden. These children are working with kids from Langa, a township near Cape Town, South Africa. This program helps children learn from each other and share their experiences.
