Guraleus fallaciosa is a type of sea snail. It is a small marine mollusk that belongs to a group called gastropods. This snail is part of the family known as Mangeliidae.
About Guraleus fallaciosa
This sea snail has a shell that is about 10 millimeters (which is 1 centimeter) long. Its width is around 3.25 millimeters.
Shell Features
The shell of Guraleus fallaciosa is a dull white color. It is shaped like a tall tower with a pointed top, called a spire. The very tip of the spire is called the apex.
The shell has about six and a half whorls, which are the turns or spirals of the shell. These whorls are slightly rounded and have many fine lines spiraling around them. The lines where the whorls meet are like narrow grooves.
The opening of the shell, called the aperture, is quite wide. The outer edge of this opening, known as the lip, is thin and curves slightly backward. Inside the shell, the central pillar, called the columella, is mostly straight. This snail's shell is fairly simple, with a long spire and a short opening.
Where It Lives
Guraleus fallaciosa lives only in Australia. This means it is endemic to this country. You can find this marine snail in the waters off South Australia, Tasmania, and Victoria.
