H. A. Lindsay (born Harold Arthur Lindsay, 1900–1969) was a talented Australian writer. He was especially known for his exciting books for young people. Born in Hyde Park, South Australia, he lived a life full of adventure that later inspired his stories.

Life and Adventures
As a boy, Harold went to Kyre College. This school is now known as Scotch College, Adelaide. He learned many things there that helped him later in life.
Early Travels and Work
Before World War II, Harold traveled a lot across Australia. He explored many different parts of the country. During this time, he worked as a commercial bee-keeper. He also spent time as a farmer. These experiences taught him a lot about the Australian bush.
Service in the Army
In 1942, Harold joined the Australian Imperial Force. This was during World War II. He became a warrant officer, class one. He worked in the Australian Army Education Service. Here, he taught soldiers important bushcraft skills. These were the skills he had learned during his travels.
Becoming a Full-Time Writer
After the war, Harold became a full-time writer. He also worked as a broadcaster. He wrote regular columns for major newspapers. These included the Melbourne Age and the Adelaide Sunday Advertiser. His writing shared his knowledge and stories with many readers.
