Hadleyville was once a small community in Eau Claire County, Wisconsin. It was located in the Town of Pleasant Valley. You would have found it west of where S. Lowes Creek Road and County Trunk Highway HH meet today.

This community was older than nearby Cleghorn. However, Hadleyville no longer exists. It is now considered a "ghost town."

What Was Hadleyville Like?

In 1895, Hadleyville was a very small place. It had only about 30 people living there. The community also had its own post office.

Before a big economic event called the Great Depression, Hadleyville grew quite a bit. Its population reached several hundred people. People lived and worked there, making it a busy little spot.

Why Did Hadleyville Disappear?

Hadleyville's decline was mainly due to the Great Depression. This was a time in the 1930s when many people lost their jobs. Businesses closed, and money became very scarce.

Because of these hard times, people moved away from Hadleyville. They looked for work and new opportunities elsewhere. Slowly, the community became smaller and smaller until it was gone.

What Remains of Hadleyville Today?

Today, almost nothing is left of the old Hadleyville community. The area where it once stood is now mostly farmland. It is part of a large dairy farm.

The most important remaining piece of Hadleyville is its cemetery. The Hadleyville Cemetery is on the south side of Eau Claire CTH "HH". It is located across the road from where the town's general store used to be. This cemetery is a quiet reminder of the people who once lived in Hadleyville.
