Her Journey in Film
Halima Ouardiri started her journey in filmmaking in the early 2000s. She quickly became known for her amazing short films.
Early Successes
Her short film Mokhtar (2010) was nominated for a big award in Canada. This showed her talent early on.
Later, her film Mutts (2019) won a special award. It received the Crystal Bear for best short film at the 70th Berlin International Film Festival in 2020. This award is given to great short films for young people.
Where She Studied
Halima was born in Geneva, Switzerland. Her mother is Swiss and her father is Moroccan. She later moved to Montreal, Canada. There, she studied film at the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema.
Working as a Producer
Besides directing her own films, Halima also works as a producer. She helped create the 2017 documentary film Manic by Kalina Bertin. As a producer, she helps make sure films get made.
Supporting Women in Film
In 2018, Halima was chosen for a special program. This program helps women directors learn and grow in the film industry. She was one of eight women picked for this important apprenticeship.
Future Projects
Halima Ouardiri started working on her first full-length movie in 2020. The film is called The Camel Driving School. It is still being made and has not been released yet.
