The Hand Fan Museum is a special place in Healdsburg, California, United States. It is the only museum in the entire USA that is all about hand fans! Here, you can discover amazing hand fans from different times and places.
The Museum's Story
The Hand Fan Museum first opened its doors in 2002. It has a huge collection of over 2,500 hand fans. These fans come from many centuries and show off lots of different styles.
The museum was started by Pamela Sher. She is also the museum's President. The museum is currently located within the Hotel Healdsburg Complex.
In September 2005, the museum held its first big event. It was called the Annual Fan Convention. This event brought museum members together. It also celebrated a gift of over 200 fans. These fans were donated by an artist named Charlotte C. Stokes from Pennsylvania.
In Spring 2010, the museum moved to a new spot. It moved into the H2hotel building. This new location has a connected room for talks and workshops. The museum also offers a free art program for local schools. Liz Keeley currently manages the Hand Fan Museum.
The museum's collection has even been shown in a book. The book is called Fantastic Fans.
