The Hand Fan Museum is a special place in Healdsburg, California, United States. It is the only museum in the USA that is all about hand fans. Here, you can explore many beautiful and old fans.

History of the Museum

The Hand Fan Museum first opened its doors in 2002. It has a large collection of over 2,500 hand fans. These fans come from many different centuries and show various styles.

How the Museum Started

Pamela Sher, who is the Museum President, started the museum. She is also a board member of FANA (Fan Association of North America). The museum is located within the Hotel Healdsburg Complex.

In September 2005, the museum held its first yearly Fan Convention. This event took place in the California Wine Country. Members of the museum came together to celebrate a big gift. Artist Charlotte C. Stokes from Pennsylvania donated over 200 fans to the museum.

Museum's New Home and Programs

In the spring of 2010, the museum moved to the H2hotel building. This new location included a connected conference room. This room is used for talks and for a free Art Program. The Art Program helps local schools learn about fans. Liz Keeley manages the Hand Fan Museum.

The museum's amazing collection of fans has even been shown in a book. The book is called Fantastic Fans.
