Early Training and Rise to Stardom

Hannelore Bey started her dance journey at a young age. She studied at the Palucca School of Dance in Dresden from 1956 to 1961. Later, from 1965 to 1966, she continued her training at the Waganowa Academy in Leningrad. There, she learned from famous teachers like Belikowa and Puschkin.

Hannelore began her professional career at the National Theatre of Dresden, where she danced from 1961 to 1965. In 1966, she joined the Komische Oper Berlin, a well-known opera house. Her talent shone brightly, and by 1969, she was named a prima ballerina. This was a huge achievement in the world of ballet.

Life Beyond the Stage

In 1975, Hannelore Bey had a son named Oliver Bey. While continuing her dancing career, she also became a member of the Akademie der Künste (Academy of Arts) from 1983 to 1991. During these years, she traveled the world, performing in many countries. She toured in places like Finland, Norway, Italy, Spain, Greece, France, Cuba, and Egypt.

Hannelore Bey retired from dancing in 1985. The Komische Oper Berlin honored her by making her an honorable member. After retiring from the stage, she continued to be involved in the arts. She became a critic for the Berlin newspaper, Trägerin. Since 1996, she has also been a professor at the Palucca school of dance, sharing her knowledge with new generations of dancers.
